One year ago, Column5 was born of a humdrum economics lecture and a curious student. One month ago, Column5 debuted a new look and a renewed enthusiasm for providing readers with thought-provoking columns.
Now, Column5 isn’t Column5 any longer. Meet ColumnVI.
Your editor wrote a post recently about a lawyer (the venerable Andrew S. Wall, of course) and a letter. In it we explained that, due to a legal obligation, the blog would need a new name. And so, after a lengthy (and caffeinated) board meeting at the local Starbucks, we decided on “ColumnVI.” (Admittedly, creativity is not our strong suit.)
So, as of today, bookmark this link: http://www.columnvi.com/. We’ll be the same old site our two readers have come to know and love, but with roman numerals and a slightly different site header to match.
You may be wondering where the “VI” (or “six,” as we non-Romans write it) is coming from — after all, we have only five columnists. This is where it gets exciting, so hold on to your hats. In just two short weeks, we will be welcoming a new columnist to the blog.
For now, we’re going to keep the identity of “ColumnistVI” under wraps. But we can say that our newest columnist will be writing about health, beauty and fitness, and that she’s awesome.
While we’re emerging from our cocoon, please let us know if we can make any other changes to improve your reading experience or legal practice. We also encourage comments on the new name, and general accolades.
Welcome to ColumnVI. Here’s hoping we can keep our name this time.

But your header only shows five columns. Is that how the Romans do it?
“the same site our TWO readers have come to know and love,” eh? Glad you were able to find a name that works.
Kris (aka Mom): The columns are fixed! Rome wasn’t built in a day, you know.
Garrett: We’re glad as well. Thanks for being one of our two readers!
I’m glad to see I’m still ‘venerable’ =)
Always, Mr. Wall. We coined your official title and we intend to get good use out of it!
