About Us

During one unusually dreary economics lecture, somewhere in between marginal utility and monopolistic competition, a journalism student decided to create a blog. (It was the only positive externality to result from that particular course.)

Today, ColumnVI has evolved into an online magazine, combining the voices of five undergraduate students. We post content to the blog throughout the week.

Six contributors write each week for six different columns: Above The Fold, which covers news and politics; Men In Suits, an examination of economics, power and money; On Campus, a column about college life;  Sports, which looks at sporting events and the players behind them; The Scene, a lifestyle column focusing on fashion and entertainment; and a soon-to-be-announced health and heauty column.

ColumnVI launched as “Column5″ in early 2009. In January 2010, the site underwent a significant redesign and a name change in March 2010. The site runs on Wordpress, was designed by Rebecca Berg based on the Thesis theme, and is hosted by AN Hosting.
